Bill Gates praises Mohammed bin Zayed's efforts in the fight against polio

 

Praise from the world and from the Bill Gates Foundation for the UAE's role in the fight against polio


Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, praised the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the United Arab Emirates in the fight against polio.


Gates wrote, on his official account on Twitter, "The world has made amazing progress towards the goal of eradicating polio thanks to partners such as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and the UAE."


On the other hand

The WHO Eastern Mediterranean Subcommittee on Polio Eradication and Response has praised the continued support and efforts of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in the fight against polio.

As well as the funding it provides in this regard within the UAE campaign for polio vaccination, and within the framework of the UAE project to support Pakistan and Afghanistan in the face of this disease.

The committee appreciated the pioneering efforts made by the UAE to combat polio at the regional and global levels.


This came during the second meeting of the regional subcommittee on polio eradication and response to its outbreaks, which was co-chaired by the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The meeting was held via video communication technology, in the presence of Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention of the UAE, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population in Egypt, Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, and Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari, Regional Director of the WHO Office in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.


The UAE's participation in the meeting aims to coordinate joint efforts to combat polio, support preventive health programs and strengthen the immunization system against this disease.
