The UAE is at the forefront of the world in attracting the headquarters of international companies

 

With a rate of 96%, the Emirates are the first regionally in attracting the headquarters of international companies


The UAE ranked first in terms of regional headquarters for international companies in the annual Forbes Middle East list.


Forty-eight companies out of the 50 included in the list take the UAE as their regional headquarters, or 96%, while Bahrain and Lebanon participate in one for each.

The list, published under the title "Global Meets Local", highlights 50 CEOs who lead the regional offices of these companies, in Forbes' ranking of the 2000 largest public companies around the world (Global 2000


The executives on the list belong to 28 nationalities, Lebanon and France topped with five posts each, followed by Britain and Egypt with four each, while the technology sector constituted the largest sector for these companies with about 12 companies, and the banking sector ranked second with five companies.

Senior leaders at their Middle East headquarters were ranked based on several factors, such as role and scope of influence, company size, personal accomplishments, and overall recognition of their role.


The report included a review of the 10 most powerful CEOs among the global list of companies that have regional headquarters in the UAE, the most prominent of whom were Nabil Habayeb (Lebanese-American), Senior Vice President at General Electric, President and CEO of General Electric International, and Omar Al-Shennawi (Moroccan), CEO of the region Asia Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa for Procter & Gamble, and Samer Abu Latif (Lebanese), Microsoft Vice President and Corporate Director for the Middle East and Africa.

Forbes says that regional leaders contribute to the growth of the region's business in various sectors from pharmaceuticals to investment, as Stephen Moss, Regional CEO of HSBC, launched a $ 5 billion initiative to support business in the UAE in 2021. Bill Gates praises Mohammed bin Zayed's efforts in the fight against polio

Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, praised the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the United Arab Emirates in the fight against polio.


Gates wrote, on his official account on Twitter, "The world has made amazing progress towards the goal of eradicating polio thanks to partners such as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and the UAE."

The WHO Eastern Mediterranean Subcommittee on Polio Eradication and Response has praised the continued support and efforts of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in the fight against polio.

As well as the funding it provides in this regard within the UAE campaign for polio vaccination, and within the framework of the UAE project to support Pakistan and Afghanistan in the face of this disease.

The committee appreciated the pioneering efforts made by the UAE to combat polio at the regional and global levels.


This came during the second meeting of the regional subcommittee on polio eradication and response to its outbreaks, which was co-chaired by the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The meeting was held via video communication technology, in the presence of Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention of the UAE, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population in Egypt, Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, and Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari, Regional Director of the WHO Office in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.


The UAE's participation in the meeting aims to coordinate joint efforts to combat polio, support preventive health programs and strengthen the immunization system against this disease.

 According to the official statistics of the educational authorities in the country, the number of students in grades 11 and 12, at the level of public and private schools, is about 135,000, of whom about 39,000 are students in government schools, and 96,000 students are in private schools.
 While the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi announced the provision of the "Covid-19" vaccine, in 106 fixed points, distributed between medical centers, government and private hospitals, and neighborhood councils. Abu Dhabi city includes 40 hospitals and health centers, while Al Ain city includes 28 hospitals and centers to receive the vaccine.  And Al Dhafra region has 10 hospitals, in addition to 28 councils in various regions of the emirate, noting that those wishing to take vaccination doses can go to their nearest centers, without the need to take an appointment in advance, with the need to inform the doctor of all the medicines they are taking, and the medicines that they are allergic to
